Science Night Out is an evening packed with hands-on STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities for kids, led by Fernbank scientists, and students and mentors of the Fernbank LINKS Robotics team. Four virtual events will be held this spring to teach kids the fundamentals of STEM and how they are used in everyday life.

Each Science Night Out is an evening packed with hands-on STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities for kids, led by Fernbank scientists, LINKS Robotics high school students, and mentors of the Fernbank LINKS Robotics team. Typical comments from previous years were,
“This is so cool!” “Mom, I don’t want to leave!“ and “When is the next one?“
There is a small charge to cover materials and to support Fernbank LINKS, as they continue to represent DeKalb County Schools as one of the only FIRST Robotics Competition teams in the county and host of the GA BEST Robotics Hub. The target audience is fun-loving, science-aware children from 3rd grade through 6th grade. Each program occurs on a scheduled Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In the past years, we’ve hosted our Science Night Outs at Fernbank Science Center but this year our events will be virtual. Instead of a $20.00 payment, the cost will $10.00 per child and considered as a donation. Parents drop their children off at the registration tables at Fernbank Science Center’s main entrance, 156 Heaton Park Drive N.E. Atlanta, GA 30324, and pick them up at 9:00 p.m. The charge for the program is $20 per child. Registration will be done through a digital form below that will include a list of household items needed to participate in the activities.
