Each Science Night Out is an evening packed with hands-on STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities for kids, led by Fernbank scientists, LINKS Robotics high school students, and mentors of the Fernbank LINKS Robotics team. Typical comments from previous years were,
“This is so cool!” “Mom, I don’t want to leave!“ and “When is the next one?“
SNO was created to help support Fernbank LINKS, an independent, World Championship, high school robotics team that competes in the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) and BEST Robotics leagues. The target audience for SNO is fun-loving, science-aware children from 3rd grade through 6th grade.
There is a $50 charge per child to cover materials and support LINKS Robitics, as they continue to represent DeKalb County Schools in FRC and BEST. Each program occurs on a scheduled Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Parents drop their children off at the entrance to Tapestry Public Charter School, 3130 Raymond Dr, Doraville, GA 30340, and pick them up at 9:00 p.m.
